FULL AIR MANAGEMENT KITS
Full air management kits fixed and adjustable are available to suit all vehicle makes and models including the unique Hatcher Freddie air kit.
All air kits are fitted under type approval guidelines and can be painted to suit the companies own colours
We use Hatcher Aerodynamic air kits because they specialise in the design and development of air management kits that enhance vehicle aerodynamics and reduce fuel consumption.
The aerodynamic drag coefficient of a moving vehicle has a considerable effect on fuel consumption, particularly when driving at motorway speeds. For a typical commercial vehicle at a speed of 60 mph, nearly half the power of the engine is used just to overcome aerodynamic wind resistance.
The shape of most goods vehicles is far from streamlined, as the design of the vehicles are governed more by other considerations, such as ease of load handling, maximising the load size within legal constraints and ease of maintenance. Hatcher Aerodynamics, manage these considerations in a way that will positively enhance the performance of commercial vehicles.
HATCHER FREDDIE AIR KIT
In conjunction with researchers at Cranfield University and Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Hatcher Aerodynamics developed the ‘Freddie’. This is a spoiler that utilises optimised 3D geometry to deflect cross winds encountered in a typical journey. This ensures optimum performance is maintained over a much wider range of ‘yaw angles’ than with a conventional spoiler.
The Freddie is available with manual, electric or Smart Spoiler trailer height adjustment options. Auto height sensing technology informs the driver of incorrect adjustments and Smart Spoiler ensures an aerodynamically optimised configuration between cab and the trailer at all times, with no driver input.
SPOILER HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
To minimise the drag coefficient on vehicles hauling trailers of variable heights, Hatcher’s spoilers feature manual, electric and auto-sensing adjustment options to match the trailer height. This ensures an aerodynamically optimised configuration between cab and trailer with auto height sensing technology to inform the driver of incorrect adjustment.
Smart Spoiler features the very latest auto-height-sensing adjustment system which ensures an automatic, aerodynamically optimised configuration between cab and trailer at all times, with no driver input needed.
